Leroy Carzero's zzzzzZ-28, Trans Um, & NEW '57 Chevy

Mentioned at the meeting last night at McDonalds. Revell had re-issued some of the old "Deal's Wheels" (Dave Deal) a.k.a. "Old School" model kits I had built as a kid. Thought you might like this one, I know some will approve of the color! (Dave was the illustrator for CARtoons magazine back in the day).

Got Leroy Carzero's zzzzzZ-28 all put together. It was such a nice day Sunday he took it out for a spin!

Next up will be the Tirebird Trans Um! (It's in the paint booth curing).

That's really KOOL Mike!....Had to have one so I won one on Ebay for $5.50!!....Think I'll paint mine blue with white stripes to match my ' 73!!

The kit does have white and black stripe decals too! Thought about changing the color but stuck with Dave's vision, plus I thought the gang would like the orange lol.

My dad gave me one very similar to this when I was a kid, and I still have it. His Z28 was a lighter orange, and so was the pre-assembled toy.

I only wish he would have given me the real Z28 when I was old enough. I wonder where it is today but will never know.

Yeah John, these were kits that came out in the early 70's that I had built some of. It's molded in a lighter orange but I painted it Hugger Orange of course. They re-leased a few and were supposedly going to re-release all 17 of the kits (13 cars, 4 planes) but stopped for some reason after 6 kits. The reason cited was poor sales. Also some grumbling about having to alter the names (Stink ray, Ferd Phony Car [a Mustang!]). Already sent an email to Revell saying this got me back into building kits, please continue re-releasing them!!! There a Ferd Phony Car on ebay now, can be yours for $250!!!!!!!

I noticed that Amazon.com has the Tirebird Trans Um for a little over 8 bucks and $6 shipping......Would like to find one of the VWs for a cheap price but so far, they're goin for quite a bit on Ebay..........

Yeah, should have the Tirebird Trans Um done in a few days, paint is nice and cured now after sitting in the sun yesterday (paints aren't like they used to be when I was a kid!). Also have a '57 Chevy on the way, maybe be here today.

They re-issued 6 kits; zzzzZ-28, Trans Um, '57 Chevy, Van, Spitsfire (plane), and the Messa-schitzell (plane).

Love to have the "Stink ray" and "Bug Bomb" ones again.

BTW, OK who bought the Ferd Phony Car kit??????? Had been there for days and and hour or two after I posted about it someone bought it! Fess up!

Funny Jack, I had seen that zzzzZ-28 kit was only bid to $5 and was going to bid for it figuring someone in the club may want one but I forgot about it. Good thing, I'd have been bidding against you. That worked out well!

Yep Mike....I got the zzzzZ-28 in the mail yesterday....Not sure when I'll work on it.....I noticed in the Ebay completeted listings that I got it cheaper than any of the others that had sold....Good timing on my part I guess!............Did someone actually spend $250 on that Ferd Phony Car??????WOW!!

Hey Mike....the Trans-um looks great!! What kind and colors of paint did you use for Leeroy's head and hands?

Thanks. Have a bunch of my old model paints. Yellow for his hair and some blue I had for his shirt, I did buy some "Fleshtone" when I picked up the orange spray paint so I didn't have to mix something up for the face, hands.

Thanks! First time I'd ever used the "Bare Metal" for the trim that I've had forever. Went on easier than I expected and in the long run quicker and better looking than trying to paint the silver trim.
